Former Prime Minister and Maltese MEP Alfred Sant has made an urgent request to the European Commission to state what actions it is preparing against Rynair on the mass flights cancellations by this airline operator. Ryanair has announced that it will cancel a staggering amount of between 40 to 50 flights a day until the end of October. It is calculated that this will have an impact on circa 400,000 passengers.
“Based on the dominant position that Ryanair has acquired in the last years over a huge number of air traffic routes in Europe, as well as the way the referred mass cancellation policy will impact various Member States of the EU, what kind of action is the European Commission preparing to take towards Ryanair?” asked the Maltese MEP.
Ryanair has informed 400,000 passengers that their flights have been cancelled after admitting to a ‘mess-up’ on pilot rostering.

Maltese Version – ALFRED SANT JITLOB AZZJONI MILL-KUMMISSJONI EWROPEA DWAR L-IKKANĊELLAR TAT-TITJIRIET MINN RYANAIR

Alfred Sant staqsa lill-Kummissjoni Ewropea biex tgħid x’azzjonijiet qed tipprepara kontra Rynair wara li din il-linja tal-ajru ħassret numru kbir ta’ titjiriet f’pajjiżi Ewropej. Ryanair ħabbret li se tkun qed tikkanċella bejn 40 u 50 titjira kuljum sal-aħħar ta’ Ottubru li se jħallu impatt fuq 400,000 passiġġier.
“Fuq il-bażi li Ryanair iggwadanjat pożizzjoni dominanti f’dawn l-aħħar snin fuq numru kbir ta’ rotot tal-ajru fl-Ewropa, kif ukoll minħabba l-mod kif ikkanċellat numru kbir ta’ titjiriet u kif dawn se jaffettwaw stati membri varji tal-Unjoni Ewropea, liema azzjoni se tkun qed tieħu l-Kummissjoni Ewropea lejn Ryanair?” staqsa Dr Sant.
Ryanair infurmat lil 400,000 passiġġier li t-titjiriet tagħhom ġew ikkanċellati minħabba taħwid fir-roster tal-piloti.
