Answer given by Vice-President Georgieva on behalf of the Commission
1. During the period from 1 January 2004 until 30 June 2014, the Commission received 98 complaints about appointments.

2. The Appointing Authority rejected 87 of the complaints by reasoned decision, 5 of them became devoid of purpose during the proceedings, 4 were withdrawn by the complainants and in 2 cases the outcome was totally or partially positive.

Out of the 87 negative decisions taken by the Appointing Authority, 18 were contested before the European Union Civil Service Tribunal, which rejected 5 of the applications, and annulled 10 of the Appointing Authority’s decisions, while 3 applications were withdrawn by the applicants.
