Question for written answer
to the Commission
Rule 130
Alfred Sant (S&D)

Subject: Gender perspective in EFSI

EFSI projects are meant to stimulate entrepreneurship as well as new productive activities, that would not otherwise materialize, and as such to bring us towards new horizons after the crisis, the EFSI framework does not include a gender perspective.

Therefore, given the importance of gender equality for economic and social wellbeing:

– Could the Commission elaborate on how gender equality is taken into account in the project cycle?
– Could the Commission elaborate on how strategic investments are slanted towards gender equality and on how this is taken into account when dealing with private investors participating in EFSI projects?
– To what extent do the eligibility criteria and the consistency requirement with other EU policies dovetail with the EU's strategic engagement to gender equality for 2016-2019?
